Lydia Hamblet (b.1995) is an artist based in London.
Lydia Hamblet’s work is derived from a keen interest in environment and the landscape around her. Using a number of research and practice methods, she explores the relationships between place and memory, time and space, the familiar and the unfamiliar. When recalling her experiences, she often combines screenprinting with painting and drawing to investigate how lines and layers inform the narrative of her work, enabling her to draw attention to colour and composition; thus further refining her narratives. By moving between abstraction and observation, Lydia documents the micro and macro moments and the fleeting feelings of anxiety, which are often overlooked when recalling a place.
Recently, Lydia has been exploring ways in which she can situate her work outside the gallery space, playing with how the context and narratives are understood. The narratives have been touching on memories of weather and atmosphere.
